Chances are high that at some point in your life or someone you know will undergo a joint replacement surgery. It’s a routine that after any joint replacement surgery to have an extensive physical therapy or rehabilitation therapy. Do not just brush this off. Having a regular exercise program can help you recover faster as well as strengthens the muscles surrounding your new joint. Thus, helping you get back to your normal shape and activities.
If you have just had your surgery and are still feeling a little pain, your doctor will have to start moving your joints soon but if not, you may actually start the day of the operation. Simple exercises such as gradually sitting up on the edge of the bed, and maybe stand and walk a few steps with the help of crutches.
Rehab can both be done in a physical therapy center or a physical therapist can come visit you at home. Whether you work with a physical therapist or yourself, it is important to stay active as possible. Keep your new joint in good shape always.
